Coaches Info
Rules of The Game
1. Coaches are responsible for selecting teams and completing/collecting the team registration paperwork, as follows:
- Birth certificates (copy only – to be returned to players)
- Cash or Check(s) payable to Midwest Selects
- Signed medical/liability waiver form
- Team roster
2. Choose one or two assistant coaches. The head coach and up to two assistant coaches will be given a coaches jacket. They need to be committed as you are to the program. We highly recommend, however, that they come from an area of your region different than home association.
ENCOURAGE SKILL AND GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP - While coaching the game emphasize skating, passing, and puck handling as opposed to a physical contest. Improper behavior by anyone on your roster or amongst your coaching staff will result in immediate removal from the tournament. Our goal is to have all players skate and we require that “equal ice time” be a priority. Each goaltender must play half of the game and/or rotate equally across all games
Official USA Hockey and MAHA rules for the will apply. More information regarding rules for the tournament will be forthcoming.
BE READY - Report at least 45 minutes prior to game time for locker room assignment and a free cup of coffee in the tournament office.
BE RESPECTFUL of Facilities – Check locker room for cleanliness, all locker rooms must be left in immaculate condition. Any vandalism to the facility will be assessed to the team involved.
3. There will be four individual teams for each region at the boys level they include; Minor Squirts, Major Squirts, Minor Peewee, Major Peewee, Minor Bantam, Major Bantam (AAA). There will be four individual teams for each region at the girls level, Girls U10, U12,U14, U16 and U19.
4. Players must play for the team and gender for the upcoming 2008-09 season. For example second year squirts will play at the Major Squirt level. There must be 17 players on every roster.
5. Each team shall carry a roster of 17 players consisting of 15 skaters and 2 goaltenders. Please remember that our concept is to have all players skate and we require that equal ice time be a priority. Each goaltender must play half of the game.
6. The Midwest Selects Home Office reserves the right to ask any coach to invite certain players to be selected to their team. We feel that this will help eliminate some possible political situations where a coach and players may not see eye-to-eye and, therefore, a child is not select even though his or her skill warrant selection.
7. The cost to participated will be $160.00 per player for 2008. This fee covers:
